Anders 🏁🌏@X__Anderson · Sep 19 The genius of Ripple's XRP escrow supply (from my own observations): - With the XRP locked in escrow Ripple can satisfy the "right" market participants with XRP directly, who are likely to increase the demand and value of XRP. This is in contrast to Bitcoin, where new Bitcoin goes to miners, who are anonymous, with new Bitcoin ultimately deriving from users of the network (they ultimately pay for it through mining fees). Thus, Bitcoin inflation is ultimately friction for users, unlike XRP. - New XRP enters the market by a private entity who is financially incentivized for XRP price being as high as possible. There's no private entity releasing new Bitcoin into the market in such a way. - Since the escrow releases a Billion XRP per month, the maximum XRP inflation rate is capped. Ripple locks most XRP back in escrow. In such a way they can EFFECTIVELY control and adjust the XRP inflation rate. The Bitcoin inflation rate is FIXED and is only adjusted by the halving every four years. - All XRP in existence has already been created, XRP is pre-mined. Thus there will only ever be 100 Billion XRP. Thus we know that the total XRP available in the market will not even double from current levels. I believe this is important as well for following reasons: * Let's say Ripple decides to flood the market with newly released XRP from the escrow at maximum inflation rate. Ripple will run out of XRP in 3.5 years. This provides assurance to the market that if Ripple acts irresponsible by flooding the market, their XRP will quickly run out. This would both destroy the value of XRP, as well as Ripple running out of XRP. * Ripple is thus incentivized to act responsible with the XRP they have because it's FINITE and NOT flood the market.  * But at the same time, Ripple has enough XRP that they can INCENTIVIZE usage of XRP by financial institutions as well as enterprises. If Ripple had no XRP they could not do this. * The higher value of XRP is, the higher value Ripple will also have, since it's the most valuable asset on their balance sheet. They are incentivized to create an entire ecosystem around XRP, spanning various businesses. Thus, incentives are completely aligned.  For these reasons, I don't believe the escrow was something they just came up with by a "mistake" or by "chance", I do believe it's a very deliberate strategy.
