Anders 🏁🌏@X__Anderson · Aug 23 IMPORTANT: It seems XRPchat forum is not available anymore! I will post (in my opinion) an invaluable post by Bob Way about market makers. Bob Way is a former employee at Ripple. IF YOU WANT TO KNOW HOW ODL VOLUME CAN INCREASE THE PRICE OF XRP, READ THIS. The secret is market makers, not the flow itself (imo)! If there are someone you should listen to it should be Bob Way! He worked DIRECTLY at Ripple regarding these issues. It’s a long read (27 slides)… but I compiled the most important points down below by Bob Way, so if it’s too much to read, you can read the basics at least. LET’S GO: - XRP Market makers are key to XRP price appreciation (increase). - Market makers don’t seem like long term holders, since they’re continuously selling and buying XRP all the time. - Only half understand the situation. IF you want to sell XRP you need to hold it first. So, if you want to sell XRP forever, you need to HOLD XRP forever, because market makers buy back whatever XRP they sell. THIS IS KEY. - A MM is always selling XRP for a slightly higher price than the price they buy the XRP back for. This is how they turn a profit, because of the SPREAD. - MM profit scales with payment volume rather than with XRP price changes. - A profitable MM in let’s say XRP/USD wants to keep trading that corridor forever, so they need to keep HODLing XRP forever. - A MM’s profit scales with increasing payment volume, so doubling payment volume can support twice as many MMs at the same ROI (return on investment). Think about THIS in relation to increasing ODL volume! Higher payment volume will attract more market makers. - More XRP market makers entering means more market makers needing to buy a big pile of XRP, meaning more HODLers of XRP. These are the basics. Bob Way also mentions the “patent” or the “algorithm” in detail, that would favour market makers at the expense of arbitrageurs (which the AMM does). I do believe this is ultimately the AMM that was chosen to be implemented. Even though it’s not a patent, Bob wrote that he’s not sure they would implement his exact algorithm but something similar. To quote him:  “I don’t expect Ripple to deploy this algorithm without telling people about it. The whole point is to encourage market maker competition, so doing it secretly would be self-defeating. I really have no idea if they will have to use an opt-in sign up process or not. I personally think that actually makes the algorithm seem slightly less compelling. I prefer that everyone can participate even if they are pseudonymous. That has a ring of “fairness” to my ears.” Not financial advice! 중요: XRPchat 포럼이 더 이상 제공되지 않는 것 같습니다! 저는 (제 생각에) Bob Way가 시장 조성자에 대해 쓴 귀중한 게시물을 게시할 것입니다.
